Thank you for taking an interest in our Medical Director role. Reflecting the scale and complexity of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, this position requires an individual with an exceptional track record, great personal credibility and strong professional expertise to help keep this organisation performing at the top of its game.

We have made enormous strides in the last few years, redeveloping our hospitals, achieving an outstanding rating from the CQC (1 of only 6 acute Trusts in England), coming in the top ten Trusts for patient experience in the 2016 inpatient survey (and one of only 2 acutes to do so), winning NIHR Biomedical Research Centre status with the University of Bristol, becoming a Global Digital Exemplar and maintaining a positive financial position throughout. Crucially, we have done this while proactively engaging and supporting our staff to help them deliver the best care to our patients.

There could not be a better time to join us as we seek to build on this platform of success, ensuring we remain a truly clinically-led and patient-focussed organisation as we grapple with the acknowledged challenges of improving health, quality and efficiency inside and outside the Trust.

We are seeking an experienced, innovative and energising leader who can challenge and inspire clinical teams to keep improving their practice, deliver our quality objectives and contribute to the further development of our clinical strategy, our internal transformation programme and the Sustainability and Transformation Partnership for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, which I am leading and in which you will also have a significant part to play.

In return, I believe we offer a unique opportunity to develop your own career in an outstanding Trust. I hope this website gives you a chance to find out more about us and our journey. If you would like to learn more, please in the first instance call Melanie Shearer of GatenbySanderson on 020 7426 3971. I very much look forward to receiving your application.
